Victim’s sons: photo seems like a set-up

Murder victim Robert Ellis’ sons say the photo circulating of them with their mother taken after their father’s killing is not a sign of their forgiveness.

Their mother, Julaikah Noor Aini, aka Noor Ellis, is suspected of having ordered a hit on their father, allegedly spending upwards of AUD14,000 to take him out. His body was found in a ditch, throat slashed and tied up, last week.

Apparently when sons Peter and John came by to take their things this Monday from their family home in Sanur, Noor Ellis’ lawyer Nyoman Wisnu told police he needed a photo of his client with her sons “for our records.”

“The police told us to stand beside our mum, which we did,” said Ellis’ youngest son Peter, as quoted by the Western Australian. Turns out the photo wasn’t just for legal records as it was distributed and published across Indonesian and New Zealand media.

“We were stunned . . . it was projected that this was a pre-arranged meeting with our mother at our home and that we wanted to show the world we had forgiven her and all was now OK,” Peter said.

Peter and John’s concerns come after Kelvin Ellis, their father’s son from another marriage, told reporters he was appalled by how unprofessionally the investigation is being handled. Peter’s account of meeting his mother with brother John, echoes Kelvin Ellis’ concerns of the informal conduct taking place with Noor Ellis’ investigation:

“We were shocked when Mum, clothed in smart casual wear, climbed out with several police officers,” recounted Peter.

“She was not handcuffed and appeared very relaxed. Mum gave us a hug and said she was here as well to collect belongings.

“We end up having a talk when Mum reiterated that, ‘You both know Dad was so tight with money and I just cracked after being under so much pressure’.”

“We both just want justice for our father, who we both loved very much. If, sadly, that means our mum is convicted of his murder, we will have to deal with that.

“We just want the truth yet we feel there is a serious attempt to rewrite the record about my father, who was good and decent.”
