Why taking a selfie with a monkey can only end in heartbreak

Selfie fever is still going strong, but one girl just showed the world on her trip to Ubud why maybe we should keep monkeys out of our selfies.

Those monkeys are darn cute with their innocent looking smiles, but they are not to be trusted as anyone who has ever visited Bali’s Ubud Monkey Forest or Uluwatu temple could tell you.

The series of selfies gone wrong of this foreign tourist who is believed to be in the Monkey Forest was posted on Reddit by user account ThatGuy1331.

The first pic is cute, the girl is smiling like nothing is going wrong, however, the monkey is stroking her hair, with a suspicious gleam in its eyes.

We’re not gonna lie, the second pic had us rolling around laughing. The monkey opens its mouth as to say “Haaaa” and the girl realizes her innocent selfie/intended new profile pic has taken a turn for the worst as she puts her hand up to her head to protect her hair.

And finally, the girl screams with horror in her eyes, the illusion of monkeys as cute little furry friends now shattered, she is actually terrified. Her mouth is open as wide as Munch’s Scream. This is not the selfie she had bargained for and she just wants to go home! This is absolutely heartbreaking!

This monkey selfie disaster reminds us of another girl who posted a video in Ubud’s Monkey Forest back in October. She tried to befriend the monkeys only to realized they are straight up nakal in Indonesian speak.
