Bali’s New Year’s Resolution: welcome in 4 million tourists in 2015

After meeting its target of welcoming in 3.5 million tourists in 2014, Bali is upping the ante and aiming to usher in a whopping 4 million tourists next year.

“Our target in 2014 of 3.5 million tourists has been achieved, now we raise it next year to 4 million,” said Yuniartha AA Gede Putra, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, according to Tribun Bali

Speaking optimistically, Putra said one of the big promotional measures to achieve the four juta tourist visits was by pushing for citizens of five countries to get in to Indonesia visa free: Australia, Russia, South Korea, China, and Japan, reports Tribun.

He also reportedly said that the budget for next year’s tourism department has increased to IDR5 billion, up from IDR4.5 billion.

Looks like the Tourism Office sure is putting its money where its mouth is.
