Although Bali seems to be crawling with tourists, researchers have shown that its also crawling with beetles we don’t know about.
Between Bali, Java, and other Indonesian islands, scientists have discovered 98 new beetles species, according to Techie News.
All 98 kinds had never been seen by the human eye before claim scientists from the Germany and Indonesian Research Center of Biology.
“It was surprising that in Bali even areas regularly visited by package tours can be the home of unknown species,” said study researcher Yayuk R Suhardjono, as quoted by Techie News.
So next time you’re trekking through rice paddies and you see a funny looking beetle, better check if it’s one of Bali’s newly discovered beetle species.
