VIDEO: Son dedicates Pink Floyd song in Facebook post to father accused of Bali meth smuggling

In a dark melodramatic video that zeroes in on nothing but the hands of a guitar player with his instrument, the son of the Kiwi man accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into Bali dedicates a song to his dad. It’s slow, soulful, dark, tortured, and everything you would expect from a son who misses his locked up dad.

As a gesture of solidairty for his dad, son of the New Zealand man Antony de Malmanche, Shaun de Malmanche posted his guitar solo of Pink Floyd’s “Is there anybody out there?” to his Facebook page, which you can watch here:

De Malmanche has been detained in Denpasar since December 1, when he was arrested upon arrival in Bali with 1.7 kilograms in his backpack. However, his family and friends have claimed that he was manipulated by an online scamming girlfriend

The kiwi is expected to be transferred to Bali’s notorious Kerobokan Prison next month, reports New Zealand’s One News. His high-profile lawyer is currently leading his legal team to build his case and ultimately try to avoid de Malmanche getting sentenced to death by firing squad for his alleged drug trafficking.

No doubt it’s been heart-wrenching for Shaun de Malmanche watch his father in such an awful position.

“Things are tough for him at the moment, not a lot of food and amenities,” his son wrote on his father’s Givealittle page, a site dedicated to fundraising for his legal defense.

“He doesn’t get much sleep with the 27 other people in his cell, having back issues, sleeping on the floor and no pillow will do that to ya, but he’s putting on a brave face and taking each day as it comes.”
