Bali dog culling alerts shift from Kuta to Ubud

While there has yet to be any major media coverage of recent Bali dog culling, people are posting across Facebook, warning of dog culling in Ubud, just one week after similar posts surfaced in Kuta. Though the local government has pledged its commitment to rabies prevention programs in the form of public awareness campaigns and mass vaccinations, these culling alerts on Facebook are a reminder of Bali’s dark and disturbing history of dog culling.

Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) says the organization met with local officials, who claim they are unaware of plans to eliminate dogs in the area, but there are plans for rabies wellness. That said, BAWA still urges people to keep dogs inside for their safety.
