When in Bali, a long weekend undoubtedly means more visitors.
With yesterday’s public holiday, the number of vehicles coming into the island, passing through the East Java port of Banyuwangi was up 37 percent from the norm, reports Kompas.
Since yesterday, more than 3,500 vehicles have entered Bali through Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, according to Acting General Manager of Pt Indonesia Ferry ASDP Ketapang, Saharuddin Koto.
Think those are all cars? Some are tourist buses, so just imagine the sheer numbers coming over here.
“The majority are private cars at about 2,700 and also tourist buses,” but the numbers of trucks coming over this weekend decreased, while the amount of motorbikes remains the same as usual, Saharuddin told Kompas on Thursday.
In anticipation of the traffic surge at the port, 31 boats were prepared to ferry everybody over from Java to bali and the wait time was shortened from 45 minutes to 30 minutes.
Waves are high at 1 to 1.5 meters at the moment, making a conditions a little more challenging, but tidal apa-apa, says Saharuddin.
