Kerobokan prisoner investigated for allegedly running prostitution business from inside prison

Kerobokan Prison, Bali’s most infamous penitentiary never seems to bore.

As if a prisoner discharge mix-up wasn’t scandal enough, the prison is also currently dealing with an online prostitution ring that is believed to be run from inside Kerobokan’s walls

An alleged pimp, who is incarcerated in Kerobokan will be examined after one of his men Ita was arrested, Denpasar Police Chief Commissioner Agung Made Sudana told Kompas

The pimp, identified in Kompas reports as Ivon, was actually locked up for drug charges three months ago, but this Ivon has allegedly been busy since his arrest running an internet prostitution trade in Bali.

Since Ivon’s arrest, Ita has allegedly been doing Ivon’s dirty work on the outside, communicating with Ivon via Blackberry Messenger (yes, BBM’s still a thing in Indonesia).

Sudana says police are further investigating though to what extent Ivon was really able to control the business from inside prison, since Ita admits that it was Ivon who put an ad in the newspaper for Rp 500,000 a pop.

Police are looking at evidence in the form of money, ATM transactions, and other transactional records.
