Two foreigners believed lost on Mt. Agung

Two foreign tourists are believed to have gotten lost while climbing Bali’s Mt. Agung.

The victims were allegedly lost at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level and had been out on Mt. Agung since Friday at midnight, based on information collected by Tribun Bali

As of Tribun’s latest reports on the tourists—one from the Czech Republic and one from the Netherlands—are still missing and search and rescue teams in Karangasem are still trying to locate them.

The hiking pair was reportedly known to be lost when one of the hikers telephoned a friend, who then immediately called search and rescue for help.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article inaccurately identified the two hikers as both being from the Czech Republic, based on a previous report by Tribun Bali. The article has been edited to identify both hiker’s accurate nationalities.
