If you have a pet dog and live south of the airport, now’s the time to pull your dog inside, as dog culling is said to have been announced for Nusa Dua, Ungasan, and Jimbaran on May 26.
Word on the street from social media of organizations like Bali Animal Welfare Assosication (BAWA) and Bali Dog Adoption & Rehabilitation Center (BARC) is that culling is not discriminating between pet dogs and stray dogs, whether they have collars or not, and whether they’ve been vaccinated or sterilized.
We suspect this recent resurgence of the government’s massing street dog killing has something to do with a reported rabies vaccine shortage in Bali, despite more recent reports that increased vaccine supplies have made their way back to some parts of Bali.
Here’s a post with the culling warning that we found on the Facebook group 2015 Bali Dog Cull that has been making its rounds on social media.
