British gran drug mule on Indonesian death row celebrates birthday in prison (possibly the last one)

A woman on Indonesian death row for drug trafficking apparently just celebrated what could be her final birthday from inside Bali’s Kerobokan Prison.

British citizen Lindsay Sandiford turned 59 on June 25, and judging by a Facebook page set up by her supporters, Justice and Fairness for Lindsay Sandiford, the woman’s birthday wasn’t too bad considering the circumstances.

A note apparently signed by Sandiford was posted to the Facebook page, thanking her supporters and even noting that she got three cakes and numerous gifts:

Sandiford had been serving time in Kerobokan Prison, waiting her death sentence to be carried out with both of the Bali Nine prisoners who were executed earlier this April, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

She was jailed in 2012 for getting caught carrying GBP1.6 million worth of drugs from Thailand to Bali.

The gran has reportedly not yet faced the firing squad because her attorneys say her appeal process is still going through, where she is being argued as a “trafficked person.” Sandiford has previously stated that she was coerced into carrying the drugs because her family was threatened.
