Four photos of alleged “fake eggs” are getting shared like crazy in Gianyar, Bali.
A Facebook user going by Pande Ariasa on his account, uploaded four photos on Tuesday at 1:17 pm local time. Ariasa’s post has been shared over 1,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
“Fake eggs circulating in Gianyar,” Ariasa wrote.
He says that the eggs he had boiled and then peeled “had no airspaces and were very dense,” and there appeared to be “some very thin plastic” in the eggs.
While some people apparently freaked the heck out in his comments section, demanding to know where Ariasa bought the eggs, others assured him that sometimes eggs have imperfections and just look different.
The “fake eggs” pictures became such a big deal that Gianyar Regency Head of Industry and Trade, I Wayan Suamba felt compelled to respond.
Tribun Bali reports that he has plans to do an investigation on Thursday at a number of markets in Gianyar (so there’s still time to pull the fake eggs off the shelves if they really do exist!).
“Don’t get excited just yet. Don’t jump to conclusions without valid verification and information,” Suamba cautioned, as quoted by Tribun.
