Man mauled by pit bull in Denpasar

A man was sent to the hospital after getting attacked by a pit bull on the loose in Denpasar.

Werdia had apparently been grazing his cattle in the Jl. Akasia area of Denpasar when a male pit bull suddenly charged him from a house near a vacant lot, attacking him, and biting him on the neck, according to Tribun Bali

Fortunately for Werdia, local residents who bore witness to the attack stepped in and ultimately separated the dog from the man.

After a few minutes, the pit bull’s owner, identified as Yuda, 20, came.

“I came home from school and I saw the old man lying in the street with people (around),” Yuda said, as quoted by Tribun.

The dog’s owner says he feels guilty and will be held responsible for the incident.

“I will be responsible, at that moment, my door opened, letting my dog loose, and he attacked him,” Yuda explained. Though the local newspaper’s report does not go into what exactly will happen to Yuda and his dog.

Werdia reportedly suffered two wounds, eight centimeters long, going from his lips. His right cheek additionally was torn up, along with deep cuts on his neck and little finger. He is receiving medical treatment at Sanglah Hospital.
