China-bound Lion Air flight turned back to Bali, allegedly didn’t have permission to enter HK airspace

A Lion Air flight destined for Harbin, China was turned back to Bali on Tuesday morning because it was reportedly barred from entering Hong Kong airspace.

Flight JT 2633 departed from Bali around 3:02 am but didn’t make it all the way to Harbin when Hong Kong authorities reportedly denied its passage.

When asked on Tuesday afternoon about the flight’s alleged permit problems going though Hong Kong, Ngurah Rai Airport General Manager Trikora Harjo said he didn’t have all the details, but did confirm with VIVA News that the turn-back happened.

“All passengers have been dispatched to China,” Harjo stated, as quoted by Tribun Bali

Looks like we’ll have to wait for more solid reporting to understand what issues Hong Kong has with Lion Air and if they’ve really covered with all the proper permits for their flights.
