Death by selfie: Chinese tourist shockingly swept away by wave while taking group selfie in Nusa Lembongan

Yet another person in Bali has reportedly died from an accident involving selfie-talking.

Chinese tourist ye Xiao Hong from Quantong, China drowned at Dream Beach, Nusa Lembongan on Sunday afternoon when taking a group selfie, according to Tribun Bali

The local newspaper reported that the 48-year-old had been out with 19 other companions on the beach and when they went to take a group picture, Hong was pulled under by a wave and dragged out to sea.

Like we’ve said before, we’re not against snapping selfies, but please let this person’s death be a reminder to be aware of your surroundings at all times!

After it was recovered, Hong’s body was later evacuated to Jungutbatu Health Center, before being transferred to the morgue in Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital for an external examination.

The incident was confirmed by Klungkung Water Police Chief Putu Ardana.

“Based on the information from residents, it happened when the victim was taking photos with friends. But unfortunately, a big wave swept him up and he drowned,” Ardana told Tribun.
