Iwan Fals encourages Balinese to keep up the fight to protect Benoa Bay from reclamation

Indonesian music legend Iwan Fals has still very much retained his oomph in his older age, as he’s not afraid to speak out against South Bali’s proposed reclamation project.

According to the 54-year-old folk icon and political lyricist, the Balinese should stay semangat (keep spirit) for fighting the project backed by mega developer TWBI.

“That belief (the rejection of Benoa Bay’s reclamation) must be pursued,” Fals told Okezone on Monday.

Fals is certain that the impending project is not in the best interest of the public.

“The people of Bali must remain spirited, do not give up,” he insisted.

Fals was actually just in Bali over the weekend for his ‘Bankit Untuk Satu’ concert at GWK with other big name artists including Noah, Nidji, Geisha, and D’Masiv—though Fals’s name was definitely the biggest and he was certainly the star of the concert.
