Amokrane Sabet ‘Jesus Christ’ Facebook profile hacked after the Frenchman is shot dead by police in Canggu

Someone has hacked into the Facebook account of the French man who killed a police officer and was then shot dead by police yesterday in Canggu when resisting arrest.

Amokrane Sabet, 49, was taken down by a stream of police bullets yesterday morning after he mortally wounded a police officer during the arrest attempt, stabbing him eight times.

The ex-MMA fighter had taken up residence in Bali for the past several years and had gained a state of notoriety amongst local residents for his intimidating and volatile behavior.

When some 40 police and immigration officers went to Sabet’s house yesterday to arrest him after increasing complaints about him and learning he had overstayed his visa, Sabet ran out of his house brandishing a knife and from there it spiraled out of control.

But hours after he was killed, his Facebook profile, under the account name “Amokrane Sabet (Jesus Christ)” posted a status about yesterday’s crazy events and apologizing for what he did. And a “Remembering” was also added to his profile name.

While we can’t be sure of the intentions of whoever thought it would be a good idea to “resurrect” Sabet through social media, this still seems wildly inappropriate to try and “speak” for him.

Since last night when the status was posted, it’s gotten hundreds of shares and comments, but it’s probably only a matter of time before Facebook takes the status down and/or totally deactivates his account.

UPDATE: While the authenticity of this remains unclear, one commenter claims Sabet “handed over” his Facebook account to him, even though he didn’t want it:
