3 Indonesians deported to Bali from Korea for alleged ISIS links

Three Indonesians were deported via Bali early on Wednesday from South Korea for alleged involvement with ISIS.

Masdar, 32, Harianto Sunardi, 29, and Safaart Elvy, 44, were arrested on June 25 in Incheon, South Korea, initially for immigration offenses, according to the Jakarta Globe

It is believed that Masdar, who is from Sumbawa, NTB, will be sent back to his hometown, Bima.

“It is most likely he would be taken to Bima,” an anonymous police source said.

Masdar is said to have been in Korea since Jan. 2014, where he was a fisherman with Harianto, who had been there since Oct. 2009. The two have alleged ties to a network connected to an ISIS affiliate group.

But even so, reports say it’s not yet known if the three are to be detained by Indonesian law enforcement upon their arrival back to their homeland.
