8 year old allegedly killed by lightning strike in Kintamani

An eight-year-old boy with down syndrome is believed to have died after getting struck by lighting.

Young Sang Ketut Yudiarta of Kintamani was reportedly found lying on the kitchen floor with his body blisters and burnt on Friday. There had been heavy rain and thunder in in Bangli at the time of Yudiarta’s death, according to reports. 

The boy’s parents, Sang Ketut Terus and Ni Ketut Lemin say they hard the sound of thunder right at their house. 

Local village head, Sang Nyoman Putra said the boy’s parents went running to check on their sun when they heard the lightning strike, but they were too late.

“During the thunder, the electrical cable was broken at the victim’s home. Even their kitchen was destroyed and in the kitchen, their son was found lying down,” Putra told Merdeka on Friday.

“It is believed that the child was hit by lightning. It’s true the victim had down syndrome,” Putra added. 

“They plan to directly have a cremation procession for the unfortunate child.”
