Australian man accused of molesting 11 girls in Bali could get just 16 years behind bars

Prosecutors are demanding a 16-year sentence for the old Australian man on trial over the molestation of 11 young girls in Bali.

The demands were stated by prosecutor Anak Agung Alit Suastika at Denpasar District Court on Tuesday for the sentencing of Australian Robert Andrew Fiddes Ellis.

Ellis allegedly lured young girls to his place of residence in Tabanan, Bali with cash, food, and clothes, in return for bathing them.

He would then allegedly sexually abuse them.

“After that, the defendant took the three girls home to where they were staying and the defendant gave them each 200,000 rupiah (about $A20),” the indictment given to Denpasar District Court said, as quoted by Yahoo7

The alleged abuse would have taken place between 2014 to 2015.

A child protection advocate reportedly told the court that 16 years isn’t a harsh enough punishment for Ellis.

We’ll have to wait and see if the judges agree.
