People in Bali and Lombok got a surprise shake on Sunday afternoon from a quake between the two islands, measuring 5.2 on the richter scale.
At a depth of 10 kilometers, the earthquake’s epicenter was some 111 kilometers southeast of Bali’s Klungkung regency and 132 kilometers southwest of West Lombok, said an official from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The quake, which rattled at 12:25 pm Bali time, did not trigger a tsunami warning, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
Residents of Denpasar, Klungkung, Bangli, Gianyar, Tabanan, Badung, and Nusa Penida in Bali, along with residents in Mataram and Senggigi in Lombok, reported feeling the earthquake.
Sunday’s earthquake comes after one hit East Java in the early hours of Feb. 8. The quake was a 4.9 and could be felt in some pats of Bali.
