Sanglah Hospital: way too many bodies

Forensics at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of corpses coming in each month.

“Every month, on average we receive about 380 corpses,” said Dr. Dudut Rustiyadi, chief of Sanglah’s forensics, as quoted by Tribun Bali. For Sanglah, this is so much that they must store the bodies in cold cases.

According to the doctor, 70 percent of these corpses die of natural causes, while about 30 percent die “unreasonably.” These deaths are dominated by suicides and drownings, he said.
