Kuta Beach Run race nearly swept by Kenyans

The Kenyans almost made a clean sweep again at the AirAsia Bali Beach Run on Sunday, like last weekend in Gianyar at the Bali Marathon

While almost 2,000 people from Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and North America joined the 10k, 5k, and 2.5k fun run on Sunday, the runners taking first place (and the prize money that goes with the honor) were nearly all Kenyan.

Kenyan man Dennis Isika took the men’s 10 km title with a time of 34 minutes, while Kenyan woman Jackline Musyawa Nzivo won the women’s category with a time of 40 minutes and 52 seconds, according to the Jakarta Globe

Isika and Nzivo reportedly got to take home Rp 5 million each in prize money, shopping vouchers, and 100,000 BIG points from AirAsia’s BIG loyalty program.

As for the shorter 5k category, Kenyan man Samgar Kamlasi reportedly got first place with a time of 18 minutes and 51 seconds, while Indonesian woman Ni Kadek Ayu Sukamiti took first for women, finishing in 23 minutes and 7 seconds.

The 5k winners reportedly got Rp 1 million in prize money, shopping vouchers, and 50,000 AirAsia BIG points.

A 2.5k fun run was also offered for beginning runners, families with kids, and those who wished to participate in a less competitive event.
