Bali’s provincial government has allocated a budget of Rp 45 billion to repair the “Yellow Bridge” that has collapsed in Klungkung, Bali.
The bridge, connecting small islands Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan to the east of Bali, crumbled on Sunday, killing eight people and injuring many more.
Bali Deputy Governor I Ketut Sudikerta says the government has made a Special Allocation Fund (DAK) following the tragic incident.
Given the tragedy, Sudikerta has confirmed that the provincial government will give Rp 45 billion to rebuild the bridge.
“If it’s still not enough, next year, we will allocate more,” VIVA News quoted Sudikerta as saying on Tuesday in Denpasar.
According to reports, Sudikerta also expressed deep condolences to those affected by the bridge’s collapse and promised to review firsthand the condition of the bridge as well as meet victims and their families.
“There will definitely be compensation. That’s being processed,” he added.
The Lembongan traditional village head separately told VIVA that eight people died, despite previous reports amidst the commotion that there were nine fatalities. He additionally confirmed that 42 people were injured, while 17 motorbikes total plunged into the sea during the incident.
Meanwhile, village leadership said they will hold a religious ceremony related to the accident and will look for a good day to hold the upacara.
