Bali judges delay decision on alleged Aussie pedophile

A panel of judges presiding over Denpasar District Court have delayed making their decision on the case involving an Australian man accused of molesting 11 young girls in Bali.

The court was supposed to come to a verdict on Tuesday for 70-year-old Robert Andrew Fiddes Ellis, but judges say they are not ready for the ruling.

“We are delaying the trial, the judges are not ready for a final decision,” Tribun Bali quoted the head of the panel, Judge Wayan Sukanila as saying.

The defense team was not happy with this development.

“Obviously we are very disappointed that the trial verdict was postponed. It’s been twice postponed,” defense attorney Yanuar Nahak said.

“We sincerely hope the judges can decide the case by conscience with a light sentence. We are confident that our client is absolutely not guilty,” Nahak added.

His client allegedly lured young girls to his place of residence in Tabanan, Bali with cash, food, and clothes, in return for bathing them. He would then allegedly sexually abuse them.
