The Indonesian Consulate in Sydney reported receiving a disturbing anonymous letter threatening retaliation against Indonesian citizens in Oz for the executions of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.
The letter, received on Tuesday, had no return address and a photo of the text was published by Kompas:
Your Country Indonesian murdered Andrew Chan & Myuran Sukumaran a barbaric way to die, so now three young boys from your country who live in the unit complex in Kensington will each get a cup of acid in their face and see how their Family like having the walking dead
A source at the consulate said that because this letter threatened very specific Indonesian citizens, the letter was immediately reported to the local police.
The consulate is used to receiving anonymous letters worded to protest the Indonesian government, but since this one contained direct threats against Indonesian citizens, this was reported to the police, the source said, as quoted by Kompas.
The source added that police responded quickly and directly examined the letter and conducted security measures such as patrols around the consulate office and the Kensington area, which is apparently heavily populated with Indonesian nationals.
Following this threat, the Consulate General in Sydney soon issues an appeal for Indonesian people in Australia to remain vigilant and cautious, and to reports if they get any threats or see suspicious things.
The consulate received way more threats such as this before the Bali Nine pair were executed last month.
